Cynan Jones
Over Cynan Jones
Cynan Jones was born in 1975 near Aberaeron, Wales where he now lives and works.
He is the author of five short novels, The Long Dry (Parthian, 2006), Everything I Found on the Beach (Parthian, 2011), Bird, Blood, Snow (Seren, 2012), The Dig (Granta, 2014), and most recently Cove (Granta, 2016).
He has been longlisted and shortlisted for numerous prizes and won a Society of Authors Betty Trask Award 2007, a Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize 2014 and the Wales Book of the Year Fiction Prize 2015.
His work has been published in the U.S. and widely translated, and short stories have appeared on BBC Radio 4 and in a number of anthologies and publications including Granta Magazine and The New Yorker. He also worked on the screenplay for an episode of the BAFTA-winning crime series Hinterland.
Cynan Jones was the 2008 Scritture Giovani Hay Festival Fellow, has worked extensively with schools through writing projects, and started in the role of RLF Fellow at Aberystwyth University in September 2016.
In 2014, Granta republished his first two novels alongside The Dig. Cove was published in Autumn 2016.
