DOORMAN SCHOUT BIJ NACHT, recte with an illustration of the Flag-ship, H.M.S. cruise De Zeven Provinciën at full sea, with at top some islands of dutch colonial Indonesia, with dutch text:IK VAL AAN VOLGT MIJ. (Doorman's last order to attack the japanese fleet). Designed and signed by Pol Dom on both sides. An original bronze coin, commemmorating the Battle of the Java-Sea, 27 feb. 1942, when an allied Striking Force under command of Rear-Admiral Karel Doorman, attacked the japanese fleet. The allied flottilla was defeated after a heroic battle, whilst Doorman went-under together with H.M.S. Cruise De Zeven Provinën. An interesting piece of naval memorabilia, in very good condition and signed by his designer Pol Dom. Rare.
