Hoe ziet het dagelijks leven van gezinnen met homoseksuele ouders eruit? Dat vroeg fotograaf Annemarie Dekker zich af, toen haar vriendin zwanger was van hun eerste kind. Tussen 2016 en 2019 fotografeerde ze meer dan vijftig gezinnen in allerlei samenstellingen: twee mama’s, twee papa’s, single ouders en meeroudergezinnen. The Daily Life of Gay Parents is het antwoord op haar zoektocht. In het fotoboek worden beelden aangevuld met vijf interviews (door Govrien Oldenburger):<br /><br />-Tijn (39) en Sjors (45) hebben met twee verschillende vrouwen een tweeling van vijf jaar en een baby van tien maanden. <br />-Keri (24) heeft twee moeders, twee vaders en een zus. <br />-Bibi (37) en Elke (30) stonden op de wachtlijst voor een donor. Tijdens al dat wachten kwam de perfecte donor ineens in beeld: een goede vriend.<br />-Franklin (55) en Daniel (46) hebben twee kinderen geadopteerd uit Amerika.<br />-Hanna (37) en Astrid (38) hebben drie kinderen, van dezelfde donor. Beide moeders zijn zwanger geweest. Tijmen, hun zoon, vertelt hoe het is om op te groeien in zijn gezin.<br /><br />Alle teksten in het boek zijn zowel in het Nederlands als in het Engels.<br /><br />Met The Daily Life of Gay Parents hoopt Dekker haar steentje bij te dragen aan de normalisering van andere gezinsvormen.
