During the past decades, organizations have invested enormous sums of money 111 computer hardware, software, communication networks, data bases, and computer specialists, collectively known as Information Technology (IT). Few companies, however, appear to be able to systematically take measurements to relate IT investnients and their benefits to business performance.<br /><br />This book provides business managers, IT managers, consultants, and researchers with insights into the measurement and benchmarking of the value of IT once it has been developed, implemented and actually used. The BTRIPLEE framework, described ui this book, links the distinct levels of business planning, IT planning, and IT supply planning with the comparable valuation levels of t he Business value of IT, the Effectiveness of IT, and the Effectiveness and Efficiency of IT supply.<br /><br />It is based on the 10 years of experience of Han van der Zee (1954) in IT planning, IT assessment, and the evaluation of the performance of IT and IT supply, gained as a management consultant in Europe and in the United States. It is supported by his academie research of four years into this matter, which has resulted in a PhD degree from the Tilburg University in the Netherlands, in May 1996.
