Two contributions illustrating and discussing the strength of general armed forces available in dutch colonial Indonesia, in particular dealing with the presence of the Royal Dutch Navy in the Pacific. Both contributors conclude the relative weakness of the armed forces, including the Navy and naval airforce, both advocating a considerable reinforcement in war-ships and military aeroplanes, fore-seeing an armed conflict in the Pacific.
