The author, a commissioned dutch officer in the Royal Dutch East Indian Army, K.N.I.L., was a p.o.w. at Changi-jail camp, Singapore, during the greater part of the japanese occupation of Malaysia & Singapore. He kept a meticulous diary and focuses in this work on the, hitherto undescribed fate of the Indonesian K.N.I.L. p.o.w., not only discriminated by australian and british p.o.w. as so-called Eurasians, but also used by the japanese as special slave-labourers of the Roku = 6th Ban= labourgroup. A very good copy.
