This book, published in conjunction with an exhibition at the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam in Spring 2005, features nine Dutch photographers including Koos Breukel, Desiree Dolron and Vincent Mentzel - who give their interpretation of Alopecia Areata, an incurable disease causing unexpected hair loss. The photos in the book portray people who are usually shy of being photographed, because they feel embarrassed and socially isolated. Despite a great variety in style, all the photographs have one thing in common; they depict people suffering from Alopecia Areata as forceful individuals, handsome and healthy, even without hair.<br /><br />Text: M. van der Jagt, A.
