Very fine copy. Five Ball Play, or in dutch:Kaatsen, is a very old one and probably originates from ancient Egypt. It reached europe through the Greeks & Romans, and is played, in variations, here since. (a deviation of the original play: a small leather ball hit by human hand, is probably the game of tennis or jeu de pelotte, played with a racket. The original game, previously only played by men, with modifications of course, is nowadays still played in the dutch Province of Friesland,in certain flemish Belgian Provinces near the french border and in northern Spain. The Official Dutch Royal Association has been founded in 1897, although a Permanent Commission was founded at Franeker (Friesland) in 1853.
