Frontispiece and 5 black/white plates plates all after drawings by (Schnabel[sculp.] & Gebhart, author's explanatory introduction and epilogue. Dutch language Juvenile story, based upon historical facts and locations, set among the Buginese of S.Sulawesi, with as main characters Din, a slave-boy, to Aroe La Tanroewa (a young Buginese Prince) and their adventures, incl. i.a. notes on dutch colonial administration, the third military expedition against Bone and the final submission of Bone to the dutch. In her preface which has been suppressed in all later editions author states that this novel is based upon historical facts and that one of the villages also has been described by P. & F. Sarasin in their publication Reisen in Celebes, 1906. Author was married to Captain H. Kooij or Kooy, the then civil authority of Soppeng. This first edition is NOT called for in any dutch public library, stated in BRINKMAN (dutch national bibliography) only. Good copy. Rare. (foxing to f.e.p.'s and prelims, some occasional marginal spotting throughout, lettering on spine faded, roman numeral V added in ink on spine, signature of previous owner in upper right corner of f.e.p.).
