An important source for this work has been an unpubl. art. on Mentawei culture, written in Malay, that Kruyt located on Pagai. The following topics are covered: bibliography, family relation ships (kinship terms, marriage rules), rules of inheritance, name giving ceremonies, body mutilation (filing of teeth), house construction, types of animals found and used here, incl. myths related to animals, headhunting, agriculture.
