<p>Dearest TINKEBELL is een verzameling van haat- en dreigmail die beeldend kunstenaar TINKEBELL. in de periode 2004-2008 ontving.<br /><br />Veel van de hatemail is een reactie op het project 'My dearest cat Pinkeltje' (2004), waarvoor TINKEBELL. van haar kat een handtas maakte. Het boek is uitgegeven door TINKEBELL en wordt gedistribueerd door d'jonge Hond.<br /><br />Dearest TINKEBELL. is gerealiseerd in samenwerking met beeldend kunstenaar Coralie Vogelaar, die onderzoek heeft gedaan naar de afzenders van de verschillende haat- en dreigmail. Naast de verschillende berichten die TINKEBELL. ontving, bevat het ook alle persoonlijke gegevens van de afzenders – foto's, persoonlijke weblogs, huisadressen – voor zover deze door de afzenders zelf op het internet zijn geplaatst. Het grootste deel van de afzenders (c.a. 80%) opgenomen in het boek komt uit Amerika. Andere afzenders komen o.a. uit Nederland, België, Frankrijk, Spanje, Rusland, Groot Brittannië en Brazilië.<br /><br />In het boek zijn tevens tekstuele bijdragen opgenomen van schrijvers zoals van NRC Handelsblad kunstrecensente Ine Poppe en filosoof en taalwetenschapper Vincent W.J. van Gerven Oei. Zij belichten de betekenis van de verschillende e-mails vanuit hun eigen discipline en vakgebied. Zij plaatsen het boek in een bredere context om zo de tendens van de haat- en dreigmail als maatschappelijk fenomeen en artistiek-inhoudelijke verzameling te bezien.</p> <p> </p> <p>Dearest TINKEBELL,' is a collection of hate mail that Dutch artist TINKEBELL. has received between 2004-2008. The majority of the messages are a reaction to the 'My dearest cat Pinkeltje (2004) project, which had TINKEBELL making a handbag out of her own cat.</p> Coralle Vogelaar researched the origins of the messages on the web and besides the actual hate mail that TINKEBELL has received, this publication also includes personal infor- mation-photos, blogs, addresses-from those who have sent the hate mail. In order to evaluate hate mail as both a social and artistic phenomenon, this publication features complementary essays by an art critic, philosopher and media specialist. These authors discuss the meaning of the different emails from the perspective of their own disciplines. With this project TINKEBELL. and Vogelaar bring about a huge change: the apparent anonymous practice of online threatening of public or semi-public individuals is confronted head on. Normally the artist is questioned about his or her work, in this book the viewing public and critics are also held accountable for their actions.
