Hollow sections in Structural Applications <br /><br />In the 1980s and 1990s a number of guides for the design with hollow sections have been published. These CIDECT design guides were almost totally directed at the practising engineer. Hollow sections in structural applications, however, is particularly written for teachers and students in structural and civil engineering, explaining the important principles for the behaviour of tubular structures. Since the design of steel structures is covered in basic lectures, this book considers only the special items related to the use of hollow sections, in particular the connections. Most attention is paid to the basic understanding for example failure modes and analytical models. <br /><br />In addition to being invaluable for a specialist course on 'tubular steel structures', parts of the book would be excellent for more introductory-level courses on steel behaviour and design.
